FAQ

What will students learn?

Students will learn basic horse care including: grooming, tacking and untacking and the fundamentals of riding. Each student will have the opportunity to grow in their riding skills and graduate to the next level of riding. 

What are the rules & policies?

RULES

1. Closed-toed shoes are required to be worn by all visitors.

2. We welcome parents to watch lessons, but please observe your children on the outside of the arena and please no coaching or critiquing during student’s lesson. 

3.Please supervise all children who are not attending lessons at all times.

4.Please ask for permission to feed any horse.

5.Never enter any stall or pasture on the property without permission.

6.Please arrive at least 5 minutes early for lessons. Notify instructors about tardiness and absences as early as possibly.

7.There is no running or yelling on the property.

POLICIES

  • Lessons are by appointment only.
  • CANCELLATIONS & MAKE-UP LESSONS: Any lesson where the rider does not cancel beforehand will be deemed a no-show and the rider will be charged for the appointment time they reserved. For prepaid monthly lessons we offer makeup rides as a convenience to our riders who may have to miss occasionally, no show is not included.  Riders are allowed only ONE makeup a month. If the ride cannot be made up within 30 days of the absence, the rider will forfeit the ride. Makeups cannot be rescheduled once the appointment is made.
  • PAYMENTS: Payments can be made by cash, check, PayPal or Venmo. 

What do students need to wear?

Required Riding Attire

  1. Jeans or long pants
  2. Closed toe shoes
  3. Hair tied back

Riding helmets are provided by Texas Riding Academy. If you would like to purchase your own you may do so. 

What are the horses like?

Only the safest and most well-mannered horses are chosen for our Texas Riding Academy students.
The academy horses vary in breed, size, color, age and skill level.

Who are the instructors?

Our friendly riding instructors are exceptionally well-educated horseman. The instructor’s guidance and teaching methods are tailored to fit each students needs. 

Do I have to own a horse to take lessons?

No, at Texas Riding Academy we have many lesson horses available to use in various levels of riding skills.
